Throw the bums out...

While watching the travesty of the Samuel Alito hearings this past few days I found myself wondering how the political left in this country has come to be such a vicious and insensitive group. Senators Durbin, Kennedy, Leahy and Feingold, apparently disinterested in Alito's qualifications or abilities, mounted a rabid personal attack on the judge that eventual forced Mrs. Alito from the room in tears. I was astounded to see some of our most exaulted elected officials stoop to such treachery. How can we expect to attract people of quality for the highest levels of our government if willing and qualified candidates are so greviously and openly slandered while their accusers maintain relative impunity?

Giving it more thought tonight I came to the following conclusion:

The arrival of alternative, non-network news programs via cable, talk radio, and now the blogosphere has created a huge problem for the liberal left. No longer are they able to force feed the American public exclusively on their slanted views of life and politics through the mainstream media outlets. As a result, the Democratic Party has suffered a loss of identity and purpose.

And they know it, too.

So much so that they have mounted a counter-attack, not with fresh, new ideas, but instead with a tangle of campaign-finance and media regulations in an attempt to bog down the progress so recently seen by the centrists. Not since the 1798 Alien and Sedition acts have we seen such a blatant attack on free political speech in the United States. Americans who care about our most basic rights and our civic health need to understand what is happening and take action against it.

Throw the bums out.

Hey Jim, from the rubbish located right above my own, it looks like you've been hit by a BLOGspammer!

On a more positive note, we do now have Samuel Alito, Associate Justice, U.S. Supreme Court. Let the left gripe. This is how the Founding Fathers intended. When the left again takes power in the excecutive and/or legislative branch, as is inevitable in the pendulum cycle of electorate politics, there will be the Roberts Court to ensure a natural balance of powers.
